  Carbon Capture & Storage Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is the process of capturing and storing carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) before it is released into the atmosphere. So far, organizations have responded by engaging in a war for talent — that is, buying or stealing it, rather than growing it from within.
